The United Nations on Wednesday honored 129 military, police, and civilian personnel from 44 countries, including two Pakistani peacekeepers, who lost their lives while participating in various global peacekeeping operations during 2020.
Conducted virtually due to the ongoing global pandemic, the ceremony was presided over by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and marked the annual International Day of U.N. Peacekeepers. The deceased personnel were posthumously honored with the Dag Hammarskjöld Medal, with Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the U.N., Ambassador Munir Akram, accepting the award for the Pakistani peacekeepers on behalf of their families. ....

United Nations (UN) honoured two Pakistani peacekeepers among   129 military, police, and civilian personnel from 44 countries for their contributions in peacekeeping operations during 2020.
The ceremony, which was conducted virtually, was presided over by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The ceremony marked the annual International Day of UN Peacekeepers in which the Dag Hammarskjöld Medal was awarded posthumously to the peacekeepers, who made the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of peace, during the preceding year.
A total of 157 Pakistani peacekeepers lost their lives so far

UNITED NATIONS, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2021 ) :The United Nations paused on Thursday to honour its 336 personnel, including six Pakistanis, who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2020 the highest number ever in a single year.
The memorial ceremony, held online, paid tribute to civilian and uniformed staff who died because of malicious acts, natural disasters and other incidents.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its wider impacts, including on healthcare access, the number also included colleagues who passed from the disease or other illness. ....
