Islamabad, the August 3rd, 2021: The Speaker National Assembly Mr. Asad Qaiser vowed strong action against malpractices in purchase of tobacco from the farmers. He stated that no stone would be left unturned to ensure that the farmers produce is purchased at a decent price through a hassle-free mechanism. He urged the tobacco companies to facilitate the farmers and give them a decent profit for their toil. He instructed a select group of MNAs from the National Assembly Special Committee on Agricultural Products to inspect the purchase mechanism and present a report to the Committee.
A delegation of the farmers led by Muhammad Ayaz Khan from Swabi met the Speaker National Assembly at his residence and apprised him of the most pressing concerns of the farmers. The farmers’ delegation presented videos shot at the purchase centers showing inordinate delays and hassle for the farmers at the tobacco purchase cen
