resist subpoenas, say you won t testify, see what happens, nothing ever happens. through the mueller investigation into, you know, russia interfering in 2016 to get trump elected, to the impeachment investigation over ukraine, to the other trump impeachment investigation, to all the other serious investigations in between, all the trump guys think they ve figured it out. as long as you just drag things out, refuse to cooperate, the hints and the threats that something bad might happen to you if you defy a subpoena, that never really comes to much, nobody ever gets in trouble, don t ready about it. better to risk that inchoate and feeble theory than help anybody investigating trump s alleged crimes. so bannon is defying the subpoena. the only problem with mr. bannon taking this tack with the january 6th investigators is that those investigators also all lived through the trump
witnesses said the president told them rudy giuliani is my person on ukraine, that rudy giuliani was telling ukrainians i m donald trump s person on ukraine and people like ambassador sondland was saying that the only way to get a white house meeting was if the ukrainians investigated the bidens. and around the same time, the president pulls the aid that had already been approved to the ukrainians. it doesn t take any legal scholar, i think, to understand what s going on here. one of the discussions that democrats need to make over the next few days is how much to include in the articles of impeachment. what will the articles be? and one of the outstanding issues is whether to include elements of the mueller investigation into that. my understanding is so far you ve been on the narrow scope team which is to say, don t go much past ukraine. why? well, i want us to stay focused. that doesn t mean there aren t articles of impeachment that could be considered for obstruction of justice
impeach the president and with so many questions unanswered, it does not seem likely they re certain how the process will play out. joining me now, msnbc, garrett haake on capitol hill. there s been a debate to keep this solely focused on ukraine or whether to bring the obstruction of the mueller investigation into that. and we heard a couple of lawmakers on the judiciary committee and even the counsel for the judiciary committee bring up the mueller investigation. talk to me about what s going on behind the scenes. here s what the debate is all about. some lawmakers see the obstruction outlined in robert mueller s report as part of a pattern. they see it as the starting point to the same obstructive behavior that president trump was engaging in on the ukraine front by blocking witnesses, blocking the production of documents and by refusing to respond to subpoenas. there are some lawmakers who think that by including this earlier obstruction that moving lays out, you make the case th
