LYNETTE Granny Luces was fondly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren during the funeral service of the beloved long-distance runner at the Mt D Or Seventh Adventist Church, on Thursday.
Luces, an avid long-distance TT runner, was 93. Luces, who suffered a stroke in October, died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex on February 18.
Luces is popularly known for participating and completing long-distance races throughout TT and the world. Luces got involved in the sport in her mid-fifties, making her marathon debut in 1984. Luces received the Hummingbird Medal Gold in 2013.

LYNETTE GRANNY Luces was remembered as the female Goliath and a legend by former colleague and friend Curtis Cox during the funeral of the beloved long-distance runner at the Mt D Or Seventh Adventist Church on Thursday.

The screams of a grief-stricken Candice Riley permeated the church when the coffin of her late daughter Ashanti, 18, was wheeled into it for the funeral service yesterday.
Ashantiâs father, Lenwin Barrow, siblings Aaliyah Riley, Nanyamka Wellington and Jonathan Riley, along with their close friends and well-wishers, wept uncontrollably.
It was impossible to miss the black masks mourners wore with the message âIn loving memory of Ashanti Rileyâ.
Other members of the congregation at the Mt DâOr Seventh Day Adventist Church shook their heads in shame and disgust at the tragedy which had befallen beloved Ashanti.
Delivering the eulogy, Ashantiâs sister, Aaliyah, said she was âblessedâ to have Ashanti as a friend.
