A SACRED garden formed with hundreds of lavender plants will provide a space for churchgoers to pray and meditate at St Asaph Cathedral. The Bishop of St Asaph welcomed volunteers to St Asaph Cathedral to begin constructing the heritage garden inspired by monasteries of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, when ‘physic’ treatments using medicinal herbs were carried out. Reverend Gregory Cameron blessed the garden and volunteers as he oversaw the planting of more than 200 lavender plants to form a boundary hedge, which takes its inspiration from the monasteries of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. “The grounds of St Asaph Cathedral are part of the peace and sanctuary of this holy site, and offer an attractive setting away from the busy-ness of life,” said Bishop Gregory. “Dedicating a section to the creation of a monastic-style ‘Physick’ garden, which will include a space for prayer and meditation, will enhance the Cathedral and I look f ....
