Team pulled together to save a red stag that became tangled in barbed wire


A VET and farming family played an instrumental part in rescuing a red stag that had become stuck in barbed wire and was falling into a river near Longtown.
The Armstrong family who live at Broomhills Farm, near Longtown where the first to raise the alarm about the animal who was in distress.
RSPCA officers Martyn Fletcher, Nick Green and Chris Towler along with vet Sam McNabney of Capontree Vets went to the River Lyne, in Longtown, near Carlisle, on Tuesday afternoon after farmer, John Armstrong who was working nearby spotted the stag stuck in the water who had barbed wire fencing tangled around his antlers. ....
