It s not the united states alone, it s not indonesia alone. we re looking at it. i can t really give you any details on what happened on the ground there, but i m confident we re going to be flying if not today than very soon up in the northern sector. because that s pretty outrageous when you think about it. the search is desperate, every day is desperate out there. could be locating something, that p-3, that orion plane just wasting an entire day there on the ground because indonesia says it can t fly through its air space. that s pretty outrageous, i must say. yesterday you suggested you re looking at the possibility of increasing your aerial assets in the region, bringing more planes in. have you made a decision on that front? right now we re working with all of our international partners. australia has a number of p-3s, india has 3-ps. ....
The southern route. if you know the gps one goes over north and to the land. the one from the south stretching from malaysia to australia has not been looked at that much so far. that is why we moved the p8 down here. it s been an excellent collaboration moving from the gulf of thailand where it started out with nine or ten international partners and now we re up to 25, 26, bringing in india, australia. that he is the epitome of what we do in seventh fleet, is work with all of these maritime nations. so a tremendous collaboration. one final question, commander. any thought of the southern fleet bringing in more aircraft, either more p3s or more p 8s? i know the united states navy has them. we are looking at that. you have to realize, we have continuous 24-hour operations in ....

Here, everybody s playing a role. and according to those officials that i ve spoken to from the u.s. navy, it s remarkable at how well everybody is working together. for instance, the u.s. navy has dispatched p-3 and p-8 anti-sub ra me submarine aircraft out of okinawa. and they re going to kuala lumpur. the range is 1,000 miles. but they can search 10,000 square miles on each mission. they re flying as many hours as they can get up and sort of because they haven t found anything, what they re doing is eliminating areas where they have not found anything. by the same token, the japanese have also launched their 3 p-3s. and those planes are searching. you have the indian government, the malaysian government, all these different governments working together. and nobody s going to bump into each other because it s such a huge area. ....
