Rain that fell across the Nelson-Tasman region this week will mean an easing of some water restrictions in the Motupiko and Dovedale areas.
Rain that fell across Tasman District this week has led to the easing of some water restrictions in the Motupiko and Dovedale areas, while consent holders in the Moutere are set to remain at stage one rationing, which is a 20 per cent cut in water use. Effective from Monday, consent holders in the Moutere Eastern, Moutere Western, Motupiko, Rainy, Dovedale Surface, and Dovedale Groundwater zones will be on stage one rationing, excluding any individual consent-specific cuts.
But Hines said there was a chance of more rain, with “quite a bit more wet weather on the radar” for the north west of Nelson. A heavy rain watch is in place for Nelson, west of Motueka from Monday morning until the early hours of Tuesday morning, with periods of heavy rain and possible thunderstorms and rainfall amounts possibly approaching warning criteria. “That is going to lead into a pretty wet day Tuesday, cloudy throughout the day with intermittent rainfall and it looks like the more significant accumulations of rain will be up in the mountains.”
