A delegation of the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrived in Khartoum to prepare the visit of Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda to Darfur next month. In his address at the handing ceremony of the Kass site, South Darfur Governor Mousa Mahdi spoke about the importance of the local community in maintaining the UNAMID equipment and machinery. April 30 - 2021 EL SALAM / BIELEL Protesters at the vigil in front of the state government s secretariat in Nyala after the attack on their village in Wadi Bulbul (social media) People from El Salam locality, South Darfur, organised a vigil at the secretariat of the state government in Nyala yesterday to protest an attack on their village Gassat Enjemet in Wadi Bulbul last week. In Bielel locality, the authorities detained six members of local Resistance Committees after their sit-in was broken up on Wednesday. Three people were killed and others were injured during the attack. Gassat Enjemet was plundered and a large number of people fled the village and other neighbouring villages. ....
April 22 - 2021 GIREIDA A fire in a camp for displaced people in Gireida, which destroyed more than 100 homes in 2018 (RD) Mousa Mahdi, the wali (governor) of South Darfur, said that the losses and damage due to the Gireida fire amount to SDG 200 million according to initial estimates. The wali has called on humanitarian and governmental organisations to provide support to the 3,500 displaced people who have been affected. In a press conference organised by the Popular Initiative for Relief of Gireida Fire Victims, Mahdi called for the mobilisation of organisations and for the government to stand with those affected by the Gireida fire that occurred last week. ....
