shootings were meant to instill fear in your traitorous minds. pillar, how do you defend this guy? it is very difficult. he will be asked to enter a plea for 11 felony counts. we might see a guilty followed by a plea bargain. it will be very difficult. not only does the note show intent it also shows motive. we know motive isn t required to prove a crime, juries like to see motives and explains in a juror s mind why he did something. it is a difficult case. if he doesn t take a plea where the goal is to save his life because they haven t decided if they can seek the death penalty. if they re not going to try to defend him on something like not guilty by reason of insanity which we haven t heard but we could, i think the real goal will be to spare his life. harris: that is what i was going to ask you about next, heather. you talk about getting inside the mind of somebody accused of something like this. when does insanity come into the game?

which is why. why did this happen. and talking to experts, they say we may never know why. in fact, a motive isn t necessarily going to be critical to prosecuting this case. there is so much evidence that is out there. having said that, afterwards, the district attorney was asked is this an open and shut case, is this a slam-dunk. she said there is no such thing as a slam-dunk case which is why they re moving forward so methodically about the evidence. all that was collected inside his apartment that s now been sent to fbi officials in quantico. we saw inside that courtroom today his defense attorneys asking to get inside the theater but when you go back to his demeanor, and there were people in there, family members of victims, who just wanted to see him, wanted the chance to see who this person was who had changed their lives so dramatically. the piece of evidence that doesn t even exist yet are psychiatric reports.
the stand to say her kid, you know, has an alibi of some sort isn t the most persuasive thing there is. could it be the family pushing for a plea deal? look, you ve seen the case so far. maybe you should take it. i think the family has to be concerned about it. right now, there is plenty of circumstantial evidence and plenty of forensic evidence to support the state s theory. there s some holes in it. the state theory of motive isn t all that strong. maybe that s one reason the state would think about a plea. the problem is these attorneys haven t been able to agree on anything. not even literally the time of day. so how do they come together at a plea deal? it s still to me is something that may be remote but it s something that should be discussed between the parties. obviously the plea deal is speculation at this point. we won t know until 8:30 when the trial resumes. will the judge explain what has happened? i m sure he knows the whole world is watching every minute of this
sheriff blaine gaskill. dfc blaine gaskill fired at that shooter and what is described to me almost simon simultaneously, the shooter fired. now, blaine gaskill says it will be further investigation to determine whether or not it was his shot that killed the gunman. the fact remains, bret, that yet again, we ve had someone open fire in one of our schools in 2018, and maryland s governor, larry hogan, says he is outraged that more isn t being done. no parent should ever have to worry about when they send their kids off in the morning to school whether they will come home safely or not. and we need more than prayers. i want to think these first responders and law enforcement officers for the job they did but we need more. we need to take action. just for a little context, it was one week ago tomorrow that
