Govt official, 2 women among single-day highest 5 Corona deaths in Ladakh 202 test +ve including 164 in Leh Excelsior Correspondent LEH, May 19: A Government official and two women were among five persons who died of COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh today while 202 persons tested positive for the virus, the maximum cases, as usual, being reported from Leh district. Out of five Corona casualties in Ladakh, four were reported from Leh district and one from Kargil. A 43-year-old Government official Mohammad Akbar, posted in the office of Education Department died of COVID-19 in Leh today. Hailing from Skampari Leh, he was admitted in the hospital since May 8. ....

Another poaching case in Leh Another poaching case in Leh Excelsior Correspondent LEH, May 18: In one more poaching incident, a blue sheep found killed in Nee village here. The incident reportedly took place on May 13 evening between Kairy and Nee village in Rong Changthang when wildlife team was returning from Changthang. Responding to media queries, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Executive Councillor for Wildlife LAHDC Leh said that poaching incident came into the notice of the Wildlife team which was returning from Anley on May 13. He also informed that nearly 5 to 6 suspects likely to be involved in the incident and seeing the wildlife team they ran away towards mountain side. ....
