A federal investigation has been launched into the indigenous body which oversees aboriginal land use on North Stradbroke and Moreton islands.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations officer of registrar called for the financial probe into the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation.
Darryl Kirk, Matthew Joiner and Michelle Williams of law firm Cor Cordis have been given permission to go through QYAC s books and report any findings to the Office of the Registra of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations Kevin Vu. ....

Indigenous group to manage Moreton Island National Park

QYAC said the majority of Moreton Island would remain national park, with 120 hectares added.
It will increase aboriginal employment and management of cultural and natural values of the park, QYAC said.
A previous Parliamentary Committee recommended the legislation be passed, and unfortunately resulted in inaccurate and misleading attacks from Oodgeroo MP Mark Robinson MP.
Native title is not accompanied by education or information for the general public, and other users tend to have concerns which are not correct at law and often are very damaging to aboriginal people.
We have requested that the state support native title declarations with better education for non aboriginal people. ....
