Athletics Announces Comprehensive Apex NIL Program
Tallahassee, FL – Apex, a comprehensive, multi-tiered program designed to empower student-athletes to capitalize on upcoming Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) legislation, has launched within FSU athletics. The program, which includes a new partnership with INFLCR, will prepare Seminole student-athletes for the Intercollegiate Athlete Compensation and Rights bill that will take effect July 1 in Florida and provide structured support throughout their entire FSU playing careers.
The program is unlike any in college athletics. It was developed through a unique educational partnership with FSU’s Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship, the nation’s first stand-alone entrepreneurship college at a public university, FSU’s nationally renowned College of Business, and the Academic Center for Excellence, which will offer two for-credit academic courses ....

Hamilton Presented With Oglesby Award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Leonard Hamilton, the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Florida State, was presented with the 2021 Ross Oglesby Award by the Garnet and Gold Key Leadership Honorary Society at its annual Homecoming Ceremony which was held virtually for the first time this year.

Founded in 1924, Garnet and Gold Key is the oldest leadership honor society on the Florida State campus.  The society was formed to recognize the spirit of service, leadership and loyalty.  Membership in the society is granted based on outstanding achievement and a diversified leadership experience.

The Oglesby Award, which originated in 1973, is given each year to a faculty or staff member who has, for 10 years or more, exemplified the highest order of integrity, service and commitment to the university and its students.  The award was established in honor of Ross Oglesby who served as the Dean of Students and was a professor of government at Florida State before his pas ....

NOLES RECORD FIFTH STRAIGHT SHUT-OUT, DEFEAT DUKE


Junior pitcher Danielle Watson (5-0) continued her strong showing by tossing seven scoreless innings and allowing just three hits and striking out two in 29 batters faced. She did not allow an extra base hit to the Blue Devils (27-7, 15-7) tonight.
Duke pitcher Shelby Walters (11-3) took the loss after allowing three runs on six hits in six innings pitched. Walters entered the matchup with an impressive 0.94 ERA.
The Seminoles (25-6, 13-2) opened the game up in the bottom of the second inning. Anna Shelnutt led off the frame with a walk, followed by a single up the middle from Cassidy Davis. Josie Muffley then singled to third base on a bunt to load the bases with no outs, and Kiersten Landers hit a soft groundout that was just enough to score Shelnutt from third base. ....

Seminoles Complete Garnet & Gold Spring Game In Doak
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State football team hosted its 2021 Garnet & Gold Spring Game inside Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday evening, as 14,329 fans saw the team showcase its progress through the spring.
The Seminole offense featured three quarterbacks that combined for 245 yards through the air with two touchdowns, one each by Jordan Travis and McKenzie Milton.
Freshman receivers Bryan Robinson and Malik McClain led all pass catchers, as each scored a touchdown. McClain opened the scoring with a touchdown reception from Travis, and Robinson put the next touchdown on the board from Milton. McClain also added a highlight sideline catch on a pass from Milton later in the first quarter. ....

Irish Fall 2-1 in Overtime to No. 18 Oklahoma State


STILLWATER, Okla. The Notre Dame women’s soccer team (6-6-0) gave No. 18 Oklahoma State (12-3-1) all it had and then some on Sunday afternoon, falling 2-1 in overtime. The Fighting Irish outshot the Cowgirls 10-9 and had several near chances to pull ahead in the second half. 
Sophomore midfielder Maddie Mercado secured Notre Dame’s lone goal of the game via a free kick during the 27th minute. It marked her second goal of the season, for she has now scored in two straight games. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Notre Dame nearly got on the board first in the 11th minute when Kiki Van Zanten fired a shot off her left foot from about 25 yards. The ball soared to the left-side upper-90, missing the mark by inches as it hit the crossbar and ricocheted out.  ....
