Rowan County deputies investigate Mooresville dragway shooting

A 19-year-old was shot in the chest at the Mooresville Dragstrip Saturday night.Rowan County deputies responded to the dragway around 11:02 p.m. to investigate a reported shooting, officials said. When deputies arrived, the Atwell Fire Department was already on scene treating a gunshot victim. The victim, identified as a 19-year-old man, was transported to Northeast Medical Center.During their investigation, detectives found out the shooting was the result of a fight involving several people. Witnesses have been interviewed, but the events leading up to the shooting are still unclear, officials said.The man was struck in his lower chest, but doctors say his injuries are non-life-threatening.
