City of Laredo temporarily shutting down two bars found to be violating COVID rules

City of Laredo temporarily shutting down two bars found to be violating COVID rules Jan. 21, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail In this file photo, the Kin Faux Band performs at Blue Moon.Diana Garro/Laredo Morning Times The City of Laredo revealed Thursday that they had been granted temporary restraining orders to pull the certificates of operation for two local bars that had been violating the state’s COVID-19 rules. Blue Moon Country Bar & Patio and Social Bar & Grill, both on Laredo’s north side, will be forced to close temporarily. Because Laredo’s COVID-19 hospitalization rate has been above 15% for some time, local businesses cannot exceed 50% occupancy, per the state’s orders. And in order for bars to operate, more than half of their sales need to be from food. Furthermore patrons must wear masks when they leave their table, no one is allowed to sit or order at the bar and tables must be six feet apart.
