Was notified right away. Im thinking it was something small then the firefighter brought me to the headquarters here and the building is engulfed, the gas line is lit torching the building. It was terrible. Its a tote total loss. One employee said he missed being inside that burning building by minutes. He was running late to open up the restaurant. Camino real was shut down for hours. An unbelievable survival story involving a pilot who had to ditch his plane in to the pacific ocean. It was all caught on camera. The man was flying from tracy to hawaii and something went wrong with his planes fuel system. This story does have a happy ending thanks to the planes emergency parachute. Now. One building appears to be an apartment complex. The other one appears to be a house next to the apartment complex. We dont know what caused the fire and thats why investigators are still navigating the scene collecting evidence right now trying to see how this fire might have possibly started. In terms of people, no injuries have been reported. Firefighters did rescue a cat. We saw a firefighter providing oxygen for that cat. Animal services has since taken that cat away. This is a dramatic incident as you can imagine for a lot of people, a lot of neighbors and folks who live in that building. We saw folks hugging and comforting each other. The good news is, no injuries. Back live now, we understand that it took firefighters about an hour to contain this fire. The official time we were told was at 4 57. – Twenty-two high school students from across California will soon be in San Luis Obispo for Camp Cinder, a five-day program that aims to introduce young women to careers in the fire service. From June 22-26, the campers will gain hands-on firefighting experience. Campers will be introduced to structural firefighting operations and gear, ladder and aerial truck evolutions, vehicle extrication tools, wildland firefighting operations, and beach and water rescues. The students will also become certified in CPR and receive mentoring in fire service career pathways. Camp Cinder San Luis Obispo will be based out of the Cal Fire South Bay Training Center in Los Osos.
