Ramona's SkillsUSA Gold Medal winners advance to national competition

Four Montecito High School students and one Ramona High student won Gold Medals last month in the SkillsUSA state competition and will advance to the SkillsUSA national competition being held virtually June 14-18.
The Montecito students won their awards April 17 in the construction division, with Gold Awards going to students in the high school’s Teamworks, Individual Carpentry categories. The school’s Silver Medals were awarded to the high school Teamworks team and an Electrical Construction Wiring category.
At Ramona High, Charlie Dilts won a Gold Medal in the Auto Service category. The following students won Bronze Medals: Robert Lorn Brinker, Diesel Service; Colin Lester, Maintenance and Light Repair; Zachary Steen, Motorcycle Service; and Payge Lafever, Power Equipment. ....

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) Authorities Friday identified two teens killed earlier this week in a crash near SeaWorld San Diego.
According to police, 18-year-old Kulten Sargent was driving a pickup truck on the westbound side of Sea World Drive when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and struck what was described as a large metal sign post.
Emergency responders pulled Sargent and an 18-year-old female passenger, identified as Ava Bender, from the wreckage.
Despite life-saving measures, both teens were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. ....
