The 2021 emergence of the 17-year periodical cicadas in Brood X has begun in Tennessee and North Carolina.
It’s only a matter of time before they begin crawling from their underground burrows closer to the Lehigh Valley.
Waynesboro s longtime mayor faces a challenge in the May 18 primary election.
The winner of the primary will effectively win the office, barring a write-in campaign, because there is no Democratic candidate.
In Waynesboro, the mayor s primary responsibility is to oversee the police department. The elected official also serves as the key ceremonial figure for the borough.

Why are you running for mayor of Waynesboro?
I am running for mayor to continue the work that we are doing. In my opinion, we have the best police dept in the county. Also, the public relations with the community has been outstanding and I wish to continue the same.

Board approves 2021-22 room and board rates
Under a plan approved by the Board of Trustees, the cost of a standard double room, which comprises the largest percentage of the University’s room inventory, would increase by $136 per semester to $3,563, and the cost of the mid-level meal plan the most popular option would rise by $67 per semester to $2,516, bringing the total semester room and board rate to $6,079 for the 2021-22 academic year. UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Penn State’s benchmark room and board rate for the 2021-22 academic year based on a standard double room and the most common meal plan will increase by $203 per semester, or 3.45% over the 2020-21 rates, under a plan approved today (April 13) by the Penn State Board of Trustees.

MONT ALTO, Pa. For a second consecutive year, Penn State Mont Alto was recognized for providing veterans with support through college and beyond.
The campus was awarded gold distinction as a 2021-22 Military Friendly School by the organization Viqtory. Now in its 19th year, the list of designees announced Feb. 17 provides a comprehensive guide for veterans and their families using data from federal agencies, veteran students and survey information from participating organizations.
