lose his momentum and miss his moment desantis political team has not responded to requests for comment. the would be candidate has seen himself slip in the polls of late meanwhile the florida legislature is taking steps to make sure there are no obstacles in desantis way should he indeed launch that presidential bid. the state senate has approved a bill that exempts elected officials from the resign to run law. that florida state law requires people to step down from their position if they want to run for another office that overlaps with their current term. desantis, of course, was re-elected just last year. that bill now goes to the statehouse for a vote where it is expected to pass. lawmakers want to send the legislation to the governor s desk by may 5th, which of course would be before his potential announcement and as he prepares for that white house run, desantis will also have to contend with a new lawsuit just filed by disney the company sued the governor
