Occupations or ad hoc invasions that dont seem to be part of any kind of broader strategy. I think because we as a country are not willing to embrace the idea of imperialism or that we are going to occupy these countries and tell them what to do, and that all fine. Im not in favor of imperialism or of going back to the british control of the world, but im saying what were doing also doesnt make much sense because we go into these countries, we start a war, we invade, and then we dont really follow up with much of a political governance piece of that. Most recently you saw that in libya and syria, where we have had air campaigns but and we helped overthrow gadhafi but then we didnt do anything to resolve the fundamental political structure, and in syria its so screwed up now its hard to tell what policy we have.
