Non-essential businesses hope to reopen soon

GEORGE TOWN: Business owners in non-essential sectors are keeping their fingers crossed that Penang will soon enter the second phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Among them are hair salon owners, car wash operators and furniture shop owners.
Malaysia Furniture Council vice-president Datuk Cha Hoo Peng said industry players were looking forward to being allowed to open again.
He hopes the Federal Government would consider Penang to be listed under NRP’s Phase Two as the economy plays an important role in the wellbeing of the state. ....

EVEN on the last day when car wash centres could operate before the lockdown, motorists found the service reduced to only the washing of car exteriors.
A check on car wash centres found that motorists yesterday wanting to have their cars cleaned up did not get the chance to have them vacuumed.
“It’s our own Covid-19 precaution. Car owners need not come out of the cars. We stopped vacuuming cars some time ago and only wash the outside, ” said car wash operator Mohd Zaini Yahya, 45. ....
