D'Tigers seek revenge against Australia in Tokyo Olympics opener


It will be recalled that after resounding victories over world champions USA and Argentina, the Mike Brown tutored lads were brought down to earth by Australia in their last pre-Olympics game.
After about a month of intensive campaigning in Sacramento and the Las Vegas, the provisional list of 15 was on Tuesday, pruned to 12 players who will represent Nigeria in Tokyo.
As expected, the final list is dominated by eight players from the NBA. They are Josh Okogie of Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat trio of Precious Achiuwa, Gabe Vincent and KZ Okpala.
The other NBA players are Milwaukee Bucks’ Jordan Nwora, Detroit Pistons’ Jahil Okafor, Sacramento Kings’ Chimezie Metu and Utah Jazz’s Miye Oni. ....

D'Tigers buzzing in time for Tokyo Olympics


Last Saturday, D’Tigers recorded a historic 90-87 victory over the USA in Las Vegas. They followed up with another 94-71 victory over Argentina who are ranked 4th in the World.
D’Tigers who are ranked 22nd in the world were unfortunately brought down to earth on Wednesday after Australia humbled them 69-108 points in their third tune-up match in the USA.
The loss to Australia ended Coach Mike Brown’s unbeaten record with the team since his appointment in 2020. However, the D’Tigers team now dominated by players in the NBA are still brimming with confidence as they get set to hit Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics. ....

Mohammed Abba charges D'Tigers to maintain shooting accuracy

A former international, Mohammed Abba Jugu has charged D’Tigers to maintain their shooting accuracy, if they are to deliver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The product of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) basketball team said it was D’Tigers’ ability to shoot accurately that landed them the historic victory over the dreaded USA basketball team.
It will be recalled that D’Tigers last Saturday defeated world champions, USA by 90-87 points in a pre-Olympics friendly and followed with another victory against Argentina (94-71) on Monday before they were defeated by Australia (69-108) on Wednesday in Las Vegas. ....
