SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir Police announced on Monday that they have arrested three drug peddlers in Shopian and Kulgam, recovering contraband substances from their possession. In addition, the police have frozen eight bank accounts belonging to four drug smugglers in Bandipora.

Civilian killed, several injured in Shopian

Srinagar: A civilian was killed and several others were injured when Indian troops opened fire on protesters in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, today.
Reports said that youth took to streets and clashed with the Indian troops who had launched a cordon search operation in Pinjura area of the district.
The slain was identified as Sajad Ahmad Parray of Badrahama, Shopian.
Besides Parray, a civilian identified as Mohammad Shafi Malik also received a bullet injury, one girl was hit by pellets on her face and another youth was also received a bullet injury.
