Oman Police: No directives to stop vehicles with more than one person on board


Dubai: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has strongly denied social media rumours about stopping vehicles with more than one person on board and asking for civil/ID cards to prove that the accompanying persons are from the same family, local media reported.
The ROP statement came many twitter users shared some messages attributed to Major Mohammed Al Hashmi from ROP’s Directorate of Communications about the new instructions. However, ROP said no such directives have been issued.
“The ROP draws attention to the inaccuracy of this information attributed to Major Mohammad Al Hashmi. There are no directives to stop vehicles with more than one person and asking them to show ID cards to prove that they are from the same family,” ROP said in the statement. ....

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) has provided a positive outlook of the industry at a meeting with partners and highlighted the robust new safety measures deployed across sectors and new initiatives taken to further enhance the city’s position as a safe destination for global travellers.
Given the strong momentum created by a second-half rebound in 2020, the meeting also explored ways of building on the gains during 2021, a landmark year that will feature the UAE’s 50th-anniversary celebrations and the region’s first World Expo hosted by the UAE, reported state news agency ....
