Share: Colombo (News 1st); The Colombo Chief Magistrate issued an open warrant for the arrest of Dalugoda Arachchige Rajitha Asanka alias ‘Badowita Loku’, a leading drug smuggler charged with drug trafficking with personnel from the Police Narcotic Bureau. Colombo Chief Magistrate Mohamed Mihail ordered for the warrant to be served via INTERPOL. In addition, 13 Police Narcotic Bureau Officers and 03 other suspects arrested for trafficking drugs were further returned to the 16th of February by the court. Further, Prison Officers were ordered to produce the two boat operators who were also arrested and remanded, to the Chief Magistrate’s official chambers in-order to record their statements in camera. ....
Wednesday, 27 January 2021 - 16:42 Former directors of ETI Finance, Nalaka Edirisinghe, Jeewaka Edirisinghe, Asanka Edirisinghe and Deepa Edirisinghe who filed anticipatory bail applications prior to their arrests have withdrawn the bail application today (27). They had submitted the bail application before the Colombo Chief Magistrate s Court. The Hiru News court correspondent stated that Colombo Chief Magistrate Mohamed Mihail dismissed the applications today (27) The group was arrested for the second time on 08 January in connection with the alleged financial fraud of Rs. 6.4 billion and was granted bail on 15 January. Investigations have also revealed that the deposits in the Central Bank of Sri Lanka have been misused for personal enjoyment by the former Board of Directors while maintaining undisclosed accounts. ....
