A MAN given a suspended jail sentence for taking a kitchen knife to his pregnant former girlfriend’s stomach has ended up behind bars after breaching his restraining order.
Recorder Jane Rowley sent Modud Miah, 20, to a young offenders institute for 18 months six months for breaching the order and 12 months for breaching his suspended sentence.
At the sentencing, prosecutor Gary Venturi said the victim was 29 weeks pregnant with Miah’s child when the incident happened on September 2.
The relationship between the pair had broken down, but the victim agreed to meet Miah in to talk.
However, Miah approached her with a kitchen knife, silently pointing it towards her. ....
