Md Tanvir Ahsan, an NGO official, and his wife Nahid, a lawyer by profession, were detained on Saturday night from Shegunbagicha in Dhaka s Topkhana Road area.
The 12-year-old minor, identified as Sweety from Kishoreganj s Mithamoin Upazila, was rescued by the police admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). According to the police, she had marks of severe injuries. ....

Police detained a couple for allegedly torturing their minor house maid from Topkhana Road area in the capital on Saturday night.
The arrestees are identified as Md Tanvir Ahsan and his wife Nahid, a lawyer by profession.
Sweety, 12, hailing from Kishoreganj s Mithamoin Upazila, was admitted to one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
On Saturday night, one of their neighbours posted some photos of the maid Sweety on Facebook and requested help from law enforcement agency.
The post was noticed by a journalist who forwarded the information to the media and public relations wing of Bangladesh Police. ....

A team of police rescued her after a neighbour of Sweety s employer shared her photographs on social media which a journalist later forwarded to the police s official Facebook page, Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (Media) of Police Headquarters, told The Daily Star.

Police detained the couple Tanvir Ahsan and his wife Advocate Nahid who employed the victim, from a disadvantaged family in Kishoreganj s Mithamoin Upazila, nine months back, he said.
Jahangir Hossain, a sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station, said the girl told police that the couple used to torture her on regular basis over trivial matter. ....
