Capitol Police Chief Gets Life Saving Award

Former Greene County 911 Director Zim Schwartze has been given an award for saving the lives of two men and five dogs.
The state fire marshal’s office says Schwartze rescued a man and the dogs from inside a burning home.
She then performed CPR on a man outside the home who was in cardiac arrest.
Schwartz currently serves as Missouri Capitol police chief.
The Division of Fire Safety recognized Missouri Capitol Police Chief Zim Schwartze with the DFS Life Save Award for… ....

Jefferson City officials bracing for potential protests Wednesday as nationwide unrest continues

Law enforcement agencies and state officials in Jefferson City are taking cautionary measures days before President-Elect Joe Biden s Inauguration.
Some state workers received an email asking them to work from home on Wednesday because of the potential protests near the Missouri Capitol.
In an email obtained by ABC 17 News, employees of the Department of Elementary and Secondary education who work in the Jefferson Building will work from home on Wednesday.
The email states they are making this change because of the building s proximity to the capitol.
To be clear, the Missouri Department of Public Safety is not aware of any credible threats of acts of violence here in Missouri on January 20; this decision to work remotely on that day is being made out of an abundance of caution.  ....
