She was also part of the women s silver medal-winning 4x100 metres relay team at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles. Athletics Canada confirmed Bailey s July 31 death in a statement Monday and offered condolences to her family and loved ones.

Born in Coventry, England in 1962, Bailey moved to Canada in 1974 and came to prominence on the world track scene in the late 1970s. The renowned sprinter set the Canadian record in the 100 metres of 10.98 seconds on July 6, 1987, in Hungary – a record that still stands more than three decades later.
