The end of the war. The summer of 1978 to the summer of 1971. The experience stuck with me iss because of anything experienced as a combat platoon leader, but what i saw in terms of the decay and deterioration of the army in which i was serving. Oft gave me an appreciation the terrible effects of war. What was your career like . How long were you in the army . 23 years. I served until 1992. It was a year in vietnam early on. They were mypart, experiences of a serving officer at the latter part of the cold war. We thought we existed to be prepared to fight world war iii and that our readiness to do that to prevent world war iii from happening. I spent seven years in germany. Vietnam was toward the end of the war. Summer of 70 to summer of 71. The experience stuck with me less because of anything i experienced as a combat platoon leader, but from what i saw in terms of the it gave me an idea of the terrible effects of long war. How long were you in the army . 15 years. We served until 1992. It was a year in vietnam early on. As not simply honorable but almost a part of what it meant to be a citizen. I grew up in that environment. When it came time to go to college, i had choices. And i think i went to west point, not because i thought i was going to be a career officer, but because i was attracted to what they had to offer and thought i would save my parents some money by paying for my education. They paid for you go there too, slight. Its a stiphon. Its spending money, more than spending money, yes . Where did you grow up in illinois and indiana . I was in normal, illinois. My dad graduated from medical school, he served in the army for a year as an intern in hawaii. And when we return from hawaii in 1954, we returned to where he grew up in the northwest corner of indiana, around east chicago and hammond. US Embassy has new Deputy Chief of Mission

The United States Embassy in Barbados has announced the arrival of Karin B. Sullivan as the new Deputy Chief of Mission, joining Ambassador Roger F. Nyhus. Together, they will lead advancing U.S. priorities in Barbados and six other independent countries of the Eastern Caribbean, including St Vincent and the Grenadines. Sullivan returns to the Caribbean, having served in Barbados earlier in her career, a bulletin issued by the Embassy said.. ....
