By Letters to the Editor Send us your views on the week s news Bishop of Winchester SIR: On receipt of the latest Winchester Diocesan newsletter which refers to the deeply unfortunate state of affairs pertaining to our Diocese at the moment, it is worthy to note that the Bishop of Winchester has chosen to extend his contemplation of his position until the end of August from the original period of six weeks. This would appear to make a total period of contemplation amounting to approximately 15 weeks or nearly four months. During this time, much of Diocesan business and especially matters relating to the drastic changes the Bishop has instigated to the Mission of the Diocese, are held in limbo. With respect, this is totally unacceptable and shows absolutely no consideration from the Bishop for the multitude of people affected by his actions both now and in the past and, additionally, his inaction
