Only a small portion of the overturned Seacor Power remained visible above Wednesday s rough waves in the Gulf of Mexico. The 166-foot long vessel is grounded a few miles south of Port Fourchon after capsizing in stormy conditions a day earlier. The U.S. Coast Guard has recovered six crew members and the body of a seventh. It continues to search for 12 others missing. Capt. Will Watson, USCG commander for the New Orleans sector, said Wednesday morning he remained hopeful that more survivors could be found.The Seacor Power is a 265-class liftboat, a staple of the offshore service fleet that has its origin in Louisiana. The class number refers to the length of its legs, which are planted into the seafloor so the deck can be elevated.“They spend most of their time elevated, so they re designed to be elevated,” New Orleans naval architect David Bourg said.
