The holiday season is full of giving. Giving presents, giving time to a cause, or even giving donations to a charity or other local nonprofit. In the local sports world, school booster clubs may be a nonprofit you give to.
It’s a straightforward enough process if you’re on the donating side of things. Write a check for a fundraiser, and the expectation is your money goes to what you’re told it’s going to be used for. But there’s a potential for unethical behavior on the back end, so I talked to local experts to explore the good work behind the scenes in these booster clubs to make sure your hard-earned money is used with transparency.
