Owen Sound’s new 10th Street bridge is scheduled to open to traffic just after 4 p.m. Friday – a week earlier than set out in the city’s construction contract for the $8.8 million replacement project.
Dennis Kefalas, director of public works and engineering, said Thursday the five-lane bridge will open immediately after a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local dignitaries.

He said it feels really good to be ahead of schedule for the opening.
“You’re always worried, especially this year with COVID, you can’t anticipate what delays you may experience, so having it open up a week earlier is really a bonus,” he said in an interview.
