Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme rolled out

Our CorrespondentKohima, Oct. 14 (EMN): The Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CHIMS), a state-specific welfare scheme aimed at providing universal health coverage to the citizens of Nagaland, was launched at the State Banquet Hall in Kohima on Friday. Launching the ambitious scheme, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio described the occasion as a ‘red letter day’. “People of the state will have an assurance of better access to healthcare services than they had ever before,” he said. “Many a time, such expenditure is not within the means of the family and as such the only way out was to resort to borrow from friends, relatives or in many cases from money lenders in order to pay. Returning this borrowed money remains an extreme burden. It is a known fact that many families are driven to poverty or suffer extreme hardship on account of this. Nienu pushes for Nagaland Medical Negligence Bill to counter malpractices

Our Correspondent Kohima, Sep. 22 (EMN): With the rising cases of medical negligence reported across the country including Nagaland, the matter was deliberated as a matter of urgent public importance during the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Leader of NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo Nienu, pressed upon the government to bring out the Nagaland Medical Negligence Bill to check medical “malpractices”, which he said, “have been noticeable ever since the establishment of health care facilities in the state”. “The Nagaland Medical Negligence Bill has to be passed by this August house to check Medical Negligence and malpractices for restoring the lost trust and respect in the noble profession and also provide the best possible health care delivery in our state”, Nienu said. Nagaland BJP to conclude celebration of Modi's 8 years government with 'Tribal Mela'

Compulsory COVID-19 tests for all who entered Nagaland after December 20

Kohima: In the wake of the emergence of a mutated strain of the virus in the UK, all persons who have come to Nagaland after December 20 have been asked to report to their district-level coronavirus task forces for compulsory COVID-19 testing, a senior health official said on Monday.
Those arriving after the issuance of this circular are to self declare at the point of entry, inform their respective district task forces and self isolate themselves for standard testing protocols, Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Vizolie Z.
