Face-to-face classes for Trinity term will resume on Monday

Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, Santia Bradshaw, has announced that face-to-face classes for the Trinity term will resume on Monday, May 3 for the following students:
Primary schools: Classes 3 and 4.
Secondary Schools: Fifth and Sixth forms.
She was speaking this morning at a press briefing held at St George Primary, Walkers, St George, the final stop in the tour of several schools.
Minister Bradshaw gave an update on the cleanup of volcanic ash from school plants across the island; and the phased resumption of classes for the other students, including those at nursery and special schools.
“I want the public to be aware that all is not well in terms of us being able to have everything cleaned one time, but the commitment from the Ministry of Education is to continue to work with the schools to be able to ensure that we are in a position to get the school plants as safe as possible for teachers and stude ....

Hundreds of Barbadian educators will receive priority access to COVID-19 vaccines when the next doses become available, as the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training works on a “master plan” for primary and secondary education over the next few months.
This is the promise of Education Minister Santia Bradshaw, who, in a
Barbados TODAY interview conceded that stakeholders are once again overwhelmingly in favour of a return to face-to-face classes.
Bradshaw however explained that with factors like community spread of COVID-19 and the advent of the related Multi-System Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS-C) affecting children, discussions regarding the reopening of school are considerably more complex than they were during the first phase of the pandemic. ....

Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, Santia Bradshaw, has reassured that Government is doing all it can to ensure no child is deprived of obtaining quality education during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She was speaking yesterday during a ceremony at the Ministry’s Constitution Road, St. Michael offices, at which the ANSA McAL Group, through its Foundation, donated 100 tablets.
Noting that the current situation “has taught us that now more than ever we have to rely on technology”, Minister Bradshaw acknowledged the challenges experienced by students who did not have access to devices, as many schools have adopted a blended approach to teaching. ....

Children advocate Faith Marshall-Harris is asking authorities to listen to the children of the nation who are asking for the days of face-to-face classroom teaching to return.
Harris, who applauded Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw for reaching out to students across the island to hear from them what they need at this time when they are participating in a blended face-to-face and online teaching environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said the students, should be given what they want as much as it is possible.
During the sessions at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex where students voiced their views on the benefits and disadvantages of the blended approach to learning under the COVID-19 restrictions, to Minister Bradshaw revealed that, students asked for an extension of times so that they can do more face-to-face. ....
