The City of Leduc is pushing back against current Airport Vicinity Protection Area (AVPA) regulations for the Edmonton International Airport (EIA).
AVPA regulations at the EIA were put into place in 1981 as part of Alberta’s Municipal Government Act. The policy regulates land development around the airport, specifically in areas classified as Noise Exposure Forecast (NEF) contours.

According to the city, more than 80 per cent of land within the municipality falls within NEF contours, which has had a significant impact on development.

Dear editor,
Below are a few comments about current health issues and the United Conservative Party of Alberta:
a) Per capita, Alberta has had among the highest number of COVID-19 infections in Canada. This can be largely attributed to Premier Jason Kenney’s reluctance to make the wearing of masks in public mandatory and to impose a timely full lockdown during the second wave of COVID-19 infections.
EDMONTON The fall out continues from the revelation at least eight UCP staffers, including five elected officials, recently travelled outside Canada against public health advice. Political observers, ethics experts and other Albertans are voicing outrage, demanding someone be held responsible. On Dec. 23, MLA Tanya Fir posted a Facebook video holiday greeting in beautiful Carburg Park, which is within the riding of Calgary-Peigan, but it turns out Fir was nowhere near her riding on Christmas. She travelled to Las Vegas to be with her sister, despite a provincial recommendation against non-essential travel and a government directive to spend Christmas with only your household.
