Milton pianist Mark Gratton is healing after New Year's Eve shooting

He was taken to Beebe Healthcare and given anesthesia so doctors could operate.
“Next thing I know, I wake up and I have just about 30 staples up and down my middle, and a bandage over my middle,” Gratton said. “They told me my whole abdomen wall on the right side is gone, but as I progress, it will build back up.”
Now, the staples are gone. Gratton still has a small hole in his abdomen he said is getting smaller every day. He is not in any pain.
Gratton is recovering at his girlfriend’s house in Lincoln. He’s able to walk, even jog a bit, and tries to take two or three walks a day. He is able to drive and goes to the grocery store. He does housework like taking out the trash and doing the dishes. ....

Milton pianist Mark Gratton is recovering after being shot in the abdomen New Year’s Eve.
“I’m trying to get back to teaching mid-February,” he said. “My body is healing pretty well.”
The 37-year-old Gratton met with an ex-girlfriend at his studio on Union Street in Milton that evening to discuss a dispute over a vehicle, but the conversation soon turned sour, he said. She went to the trunk of her car and retrieved a shotgun, firing birdshot into his abdomen, according to Gratton. ....

With 30% capacity now allowed, Milton Theatre will reopen

The arts are back at the Milton Theatre, which will reopen Jan. 22 after closing indefinitely in December.
The theater announced the reopening via Facebook on Friday, Jan. 8. Ticket sales began Monday, Jan. 11, and spokesman John Paul Lacap said the day now holds the record for the most ticket sales in Milton Theatre history. About 50 were sold in the first hour, according to Lacap.
I think that reflects on the confidence of people in us, that we re not going anywhere, Lacap said.
The reopening lineup includes a stand-up comedy show, yacht rocker Boat House Row and The Music of Judy Garland with Broadway s Grace Field. ....

Pianist hospitalized after Milton New Year's Eve shooting

A popular local pianist was shot in the abdomen on New Year s Eve in Milton.
The Milton Police Department responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Union Street around 5:15 p.m. Dec. 31. A male victim suffering a single gunshot wound to the torso was transported to Beebe Medical Center by ambulance, according to Chief Derrick Harvey.
A possible suspect was found by state police troopers sitting in a vehicle in a wooded area of Burton Road, Harvey said, and transported to a local hospital. He did not say why.
Harvey did not name the victim or the suspect, but Terri Hoggan-Gratton confirmed her son, Mark A. Gratton, was the victim in a Facebook post. ....
