Grant projects announced today by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources will improve public opportunities to see and learn about native animals and plants statewide. The six proposals selected by the DNR Wildlife Resources Division as 2021 recipients in the Wildlife Viewing Grants Program range from Cairo to Covington and from Varnell to Tybee Island. ....

The first day hike is set for Friday, Jan. 1, at 3 p.m. Meet on the porch of the mill. Come to the Prater’s Mill Historic Site on New Year’s Day for a refreshing hike on the Norma Gordon Nature Loop and the Prater’s Mill Greenway. The guided nature trail hike is good for both children and adults, and will be led by Greg Bruner. Meet on the porch of the mill at 3 p.m. Bring water, binoculars and wear sturdy shoes. This is an outdoor activity and social distancing will be observed. ....
