Published: 6:00 PM April 23, 2021    HM Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Annie Maw, unveiled the new Long Ashton memorial on April 12. - Credit: Carl Tarsey More than 100 villagers who died in the service of their country have been remembered at a memorial unveiling ceremony in Long Ashton.   HM Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Annie Maw, stepped in place of HRH The Princess Royal to reveal the monument on April 12, which marked 80 years to the day when the village Mill Cottages were bombed in 1941, killing five people.  Three granite stones bearing 104 names of the village fallen stand in a small courtyard, with a garden area and seating, opposite the former Northleaze School building in Long Ashton Road.
