Independent Member for Mildura Ali Cupper says Victorians are not seeing enough of a “nuanced response” to COVID-19 from the state government.
Victorian health authorities are currently unsure about whether the state’s seven-day circuit-breaker lockdown will be extended despite a nearing deadline.
Ms Cupper told Sky News host Chris Kenny the lockdown is “really testing” especially for regional Victorians.
“Also sadly familiar to us,” she said.
“One of the things that I think is so key to maintaining people’s cooperation and people’s morale is proportionality.
“People are willing to cop restrictions … but the response needs to be nuanced, and we’re not seeing enough of a nuanced response.”

The Australian Open isn’t the only tennis getting knocked around by Victoria’s latest COVID-19 lockdown: in fact, compared to those readying for the 2021 country week tournament, the professionals at outbreak epicentre in Melbourne are getting away lightly.
Country week was supposed to begin on Sunday at Swan Hill - coronavirus free and more than 300 kilometres north west of the nearest confirmed cases. Teams and families from mostly regional Victoria had booked as many as 1200 hotel rooms and were expected to pump at least $2 million into Swan Hill economy.
