Carmaker Stellantis announce "strong" results for first quarter after merger, despite global microchip - World News

ROME, May 5 (Xinhua) Stellantis, the carmaker formed by the merger of Italian-American carmaker Fiat-Chrysler and France s Peugeot, said Wednesday that the worldwide microchip shortage hindered its production though revenue and vehicle shipments were still strong in the first quarter of 2021.
The quarterly report was the first for Stellantis as a combined company. The previous earnings report, conducted on March 3, was for the fourth quarter of last year when Fiat-Chrysler and Peugeot still operated as separate companies.
During a call with journalists and analysts on Wednesday, Stellantis Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Carlos Tavares reported the company s revenue over the first three months of the year was 27 billion euros (44.4 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 14 percent compared to the combined revenue from Fiat-Chrysler and Peugeot over the same period in 2020.
