[email protected] HUBBARD Hoping to have a better chance at securing grants, the Eagle Joint Fire District will join Brookfield and Liberty fire departments to seek available funding for turnout gear and other items for firefighters. Eagle Joint Fire District Chief Ron Stanish said at the December fire board meeting he has spoken to the fire chiefs in Brookfield and Liberty, who all agree that by joining together they have a better chance of acquiring grants for needed items such as turnout gear. “We agreed there is a better chance of getting what we need by going together as three departments,” he said. ....

The Eagle Joint Fire District will be contacting David “Chip” Comstock, chief of the Western Reserve Joint Fire District in Poland, to speak with him and Hubbard city and township officials on what needs to be done to get emergency medical service or ambulance service to the area. The Western Reserve Fire District represents Poland Village, Poland Township and Lowellville. Hubbard Councilman Mike Kerr said at this week’s Eagle Joint Fire District board meeting he will get in touch with Comstock so he can explain what they have been doing for ambulance and EMS in his joint fire district in Mahoning County and what can be done to get the services in Hubbard.
