Like mother, like son That same year, Anna Maria, who raised her children independently, took her 11-year-old son, Fabio, to Asia for the first time. The journey inspired him to follow in his mother’s footsteps and, eventually, led to them opening the first Rossi & Rossi gallery together in 1988 in London, where Anna Maria had moved in 1985 to be closer to collectors and fellow dealers. In 2013, they expanded to Hong Kong, opening a sprawling space in a former factory building in Wong Chuk Hang. This month they are opening a second gallery in the city, a smaller outpost in Central in which they plan to show ancient art alongside pieces by a handful of contemporary Asian artists they now represent. ....
Revol Coffee Jordan neighbourhood favourite Cafe Revol has opened up a second location in Wan Chai, bringing its revolutionary fervour for the drink to the other side of the pond. Revol Coffee features sleek interiors reminiscent of Japanese minimalism, while an all-black palette creates a certain cosiness within which to sip the two single-origin espresso house blends. Revol Coffee, Shop 2, G/F, 206-212 Johnston Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong East Latte Shoppers have yet another place for coffee in Causeway Bay with the opening of East Latte behind Times Square. Signature drinks include the French latte, which uses a dark roast blend, while the Yirgacheffe and Colombia lattes use beans from their respective regions. This piece, The Huge Mountain, is one of the largest works in their donation to M+ it’s more than five metres long. “I’ve always liked how his work crosses between Chinese classical painting and contemporary art,” says William. “We bought this work from Hanart TZ Gallery, I think in 2012. One thing that really struck me was that there was a moon on the top of the mountain. I don’t know why, but I’ve always thought that moon was very beautiful.” ....
