That included Lockyer/Ipswich’s latest over 60s Division 1 game against Wide Bay played at Gympie. In a match where both sides were impacted by a shortage of players, Wide Bay handled the conditions better. The home side overhauled Lockyer/Ipswich’s 8/132 with three overs and five wickets to spare. Losing the toss and being sent in made the task for the visitors even more difficult, with a heavy dew on the ground and a soft pitch. ....

Gold Coast won by three runs in the low scoring game at Ropehill on Sunday. Sent in to bat, the visitors struggled to be 6 55 before a late order rally got them to 9/136 off 45 overs. Excellent bowling by Glenn Jackwitz (1/14 off eight overs), in partnership with Jeff Evans (1/23) kept a tight rein on the Gold Coast top order. Brian Olsen (1/14 off eight overs) and Col Taylor (3/16 off eight overs) contained the middle order. The bowlers were well supported by Lockyer/Ipswich s fielding. ....
LOCKYER/Ipswich Veterans cricket teams shared in mixed results in their latest matches. The over 50s Division 2 went down to Toowoomba at Ivor Marsden in a close match. Despite losing the toss and being sent in, the home side laid an excellent platform to be 2/117 after 23 overs. However, their efforts to accelerate the scoring from there were restricted by some tight bowling, causing the loss of a few wickets. A rebuild by the lower order resulted in an eventual defendable total of 8/226. Man of the match Dean Micallef remained 58 not 0ut. Andrew Walsh was also unbeaten on 51. Jan Pettersson (35) and Darryl O’Sullivan (25) were other main contributors. ....
