clouds in as well as the warmth tomorrow. i will let you know when the next frigid drop is coming and when the warm-up is coming too. laura: the iowa caucus, and the world-wide attention, is now just a few weeks away, but the political focus for iowans this week lies closer to home. kcci s grace provenzano tells us what s on tap in the state legislature. grace: laura, it s a new year and a new session, but there are old issues hanging in the balance, like education. several iowa lawmakers made stops at the capitol sunday afternoon as they prepare to gavel in tomorrow morning. senator liz mathis says k through 12 public education funding will be topping their list of priorities. last year s session went long over the issue of education, as lawmakers couldn t come to an agreement. that ended with a $55.7 million budget compromise. but governor terry branstad later vetoed that measure in early july, to the disappointment of lawmakers and state. senator mathis says in addition to

((mauricio marin)) the man living at the house is understandably shaken up tonight. he tells us there were four guys who made their way inside the house trying to go after a safe. ray kilcoyne has a busted lip, is bruised up and has a broken hand after he says four guys made their way into his house saturday night while he was making dinner. he says the men tied him and a friend that was over at the time. ray s girlfriend was upstairs and managed to hide and call 9- 1-1 when she heard the commotion. he also had an 11 year old son upstairs who he says the suspects threatened to kill if he didn t open up the safe which had nothing inside. ray says it was a horrifying experience.
