The end of the school year is just around the corner, and that means itâs time for high school seniors and Fort Hood family members to apply for college scholarships.
âOur education counselors do their best to encourage Soldiers and their family members to seek out and apply for as many scholarships as possible,â Mike Engen, Fort Hood education services officer, said. âOne of our favorite sayings is âNever miss a chance to use OPM (other peopleâs money) to help fund your or your childâs education!â
“Fortunately, scholarship opportunities are abundant and can be found through regular internet searches,” Engen continued. “The Department of Labor website hosts a terrific scholarship search tool (https://www.careeronestop.org/toolkit/training/find-scholarships.aspx). Locally, the Fort Hood Area Family Member Scholarship Fund and the Association of the United States Army Fort Hood chapter are offered annually and target our community.”
