Amendment enraged republicans. they are this is a real redline for the republican congress. house speaker nancy pelosi tipped her hand on the height amendment late last year. as soon as the amendment was there, i was thinking we have to get rid of that. it s long overdue. getting rid of it. in my view. a spending bill without the height amendment faces a filibuster in the senate. that s why even pro-life democrats are skeptical of the amendment. we are at the early stages of a very long budget process. i don t make it upon one provision. and in the height amendment comes with peril. risking a government shutdown is a risky thing for democrats to do. even if the height amendment survives, liberal democrats can show their face. they came closer than ever to ending the federal firewall on abortion funding. mike. chad, thanks very much. ....
