I would like to thank Mike Delahant for his wonderful columns on Robert Louis Stevenson. As a child here in Saranac Lake, my mother would read the stories and poems of RLS to my sister and me. She took us on many walks and occasionally would walk us over to his cottage. I was always fascinated by him. I read his poems and stories to my son. His favorite was, and still is, “The Land of Counterpane,” the perfect “story” for a little boy. He writes his own poems now. I’m learning so much more about RLS than I ever knew. What an interesting man. I love his dreams and am happy he was able to live some of those dreams traveling to the South Seas. I would love to have known him.
