The first round of the high school football playoffs gets underway this week in the GHSA, GIAA, and GAPPS, with 15 northeast Georgia area teams ready to begin the quests for what they hope are state titles.
The Georgia High School Association state playoffs begin this week, and 15 area teams will begin their hopeful quest to the state title game in December.
Not only is it the busiest week of the season in terms of number of games, but Week 11 may be the biggest week of the season with playoff fates hanging in the balance for a dozen teams in the northeast Georgia area.
Week 8 will be the lightest of the 2023 campaign, with just 16 games involving northeast Georgia-area teams. However, 14 of the 16 games are crucial region matchups.
Region 8-4A will go full throttle on Friday night as the rest of the region joins East Forsyth and Cedar Shoals for some key matchups right out of the gate.
